Ronald Ackerman Fatally Injured in Highway 5 Collision with 18-Wheeler

74-year-old Ronald Ackerman (Hot Springs Village, AR) was fatally injured in an accident that took place on Thursday, June 6, 2019.

At approximately 12:25 p.m. Mr. Ackerman was traveling north on State Highway 5 near log mile 16.7 in Saline County. Mr. Ackerman’s vehicle (2014 Toyota Camry) struck the rear of a 2005 Western Star semi-truck traveling south on State Highway 5.

While navigating a right-hand curve, the trailer of the southbound 18-wheeler crossed the center line into opposing traffic where the trailer struck Mr. Ackerman’s vehicle. The tractor-trailer pushed Mr. Ackerman’s vehicle into a third vehicle traveling north behind Mr. Ackerman’s vehicle.

65-year-old George Schulga (Hot Springs Village, AR) and 63-year-old Andre Schulga (Hot Springs Village, AR) were both traveling north in the third vehicle (2013 Dodge Ram) that collided with Mr. Ackerman’s vehicle after initial contact with the tractor-trailer.

Conditions at the time of the accident were reportedly rainy and wet.
